25 juni is het het album The Defamation of Strickland Banks van Plan B uitgekomen. Plan B scoort een enorme hit in Europa met zijn single She Said. Na weken lang op #1 in de UK airplaycharts te hebben gestaan slaat het succes nu over naar de rest van Europa. Onder andere in Denemarken (#15), Frankrijk (#12), Ierland (#3), Italië (#28) en Zwitserland (#9) staat She Said in de hoogste regionen van de airplaycharts. In Nederland komt She Said voorbij op Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3FM, de regionale zenders en MTV.

Op 7 en 8 juni was Plan B in Nederland om zijn album te promoten. Hij deed interviews met o.a. FHM, Playboy, Veronica Magazine, Metro, OOR, Revolver, Off The Record en Spits. De dag erna was Plan B te gast in de ochtendshow van Giel Beelen op 3FM en diezelfde avond schitterde hij in de Westerliefde waar hij optrad in een showcase voor media en publiek.
Dat er meer dan één hit op dit album staat is in de UK reeds bewezen, daar bereikte Stay Too Long (de eerste single in de UK) eveneens de top 10 van de UK singlecharts. The Defamation of Strickland Banks is de Motown sound met het rauwe randje van Oost Londen. Het is Smokey Robinson die op miraculeuze is samengesmolten met Eminem, het is een “urban fairytale”, een soulplaat met een vlijmscherp randje.
Het album vertelt het verhaal van Strickland Banks, een man die tenondergaat aan z’n eigen succes; a sharp-suited British soul singer who finds fame with bitter-sweet love songs like Love Goes Down and Writing’s On The Wall but loses everything when he ends up in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. “He’s a version of me, an alter-ego,” zegt Plan B over zijn creatie.
