SCREAMWORKS: Love In Theory And Practice
Op 12 februari verschijnt het zevende studioalbum van HIM genaamd: ´Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice´.
´It´s not a happy album, I Wouldn´t say that,´ geeft HIM frontman Ville Valo toe over de band zijn nieuwste release Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice. ´But for the first time HIM does acknowledge that there is such a thing called ´happiness´, even if it is far away. This album is more a speculation on how to get there, - and that it is possible.´
HIM heeft nooit gekozen voor de makkelijkste weg. Sinds hun tienerjaren – die ze in Helsinki en Finland hebben doorgebracht - heeft de band grenzen opgezocht om zijn horizon op zowel artistiek als emotioneel gebied te verleggen. Dit heeft geresulteerd in zeven indrukwekkende albums, wat HIM tot één van de grootste rock acts ter wereld maakt.
´The whole point of the album, what I was going for, is what I Call melancholic levity,´ zegt Valo. ´It´s the kind of hopeful ´tragic-ness´ that Depeche Mode does really well. When they play ´Enjoy The Silence,´ which is one of my favorite songs, it´s a really sad song but it makes you dance. That was my idea for the album rather than the gloomy-doomy stuff of the past.´
Het album is geproduceerd door Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Boys Like grils) in Los Angeles. Met Squire zijn support, heeft de band weer een perfecte aansluiting kunnen vinden met elkaar waardoor de muziek en het talent van ieder bandlid als een puzzel in elkaar valt.
HIM is een Finse band die in 1995 is gevormd door Mikko Viljami Lindström, Migé Amour en Ville Valo. De songteksten, voornamelijk geschreven door Ville Valo, zijn geschreven rond een combinatie van de thema’s liefde en dood. De band omschrijft de muziek die zij maken het liefst als Love Metal.
